The blotter consists of officers’ accounts of crimes and other incidents in Mercer Island. Persons arrested are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
Aug. 29
DUI: A driver was stopped in the 6000 block of I-90 at 1:16 a.m. for a registration violation. He admitted to having warrants and using marijuana, and failed field sobriety tests. His blood was drawn, pursuant to a search warrant. He was booked into King County Jail on two felony warrants.
Aug. 30
CAR THEFT: A vehicle stolen out of Tacoma was recovered on Mercer Island in the 3500 block of E. Mercer Way at 12:24 a.m. A man found sitting in the driver seat was arrested for possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
PROWLING: An unlocked vehicle was prowled overnight in the 9000 block of SE 50th St., and the victim’s wallet was stolen. The wallet contained four credit cards, a driver’s license and Social Security card. All of the credit cards had fraudulent activity recorded on them.
Aug. 31
THEFT: A woman reported that her watch was stolen from her condo in the 7600 block of SE 29th St. at 10:21 a.m.
Sept. 2
ARREST: A vehicle was stopped for an equipment violation in the 8100 block of I-90 at 10:17 p.m. The driver was arrested on an outstanding felony no bail warrant, and booked into King County Jail.
Sept. 3
ANOTHER ARREST: An MIPD warrant subject was arrested and direct booked by Auburn police officers at 9:17 a.m.
THEFT: Two boys biked to the park in the 7700 block of E. Mercer Way. They left their bicycles unlocked on the driveway, and walked down to the park. When they returned at 10:15 p.m., they found that one of the bikes had been stolen. The theft was reported the next day.
DUI: A subject was arrested for DUI at 6:26 p.m. in the 7700 block of Island Crest Way. They provided BAC samples of 0.258 and 0.251.
FALL: Two subjects fell from a retaining wall in the 2200 block of W. Mercer Way at 11:24 p.m. Both subjects were injured, and were transported to Swedish and Harborview.
