The Mercer Island Food Pantry is in need of a volunteer coordinator to help with the organization.

The Food Pantry has been responding to an increasing need for food and an even larger number of donations in recent months.

Volunteers are the basis of the work force at the Food Pantry, helping to gather and transport food from donation bins and businesses. The organization needs an unpaid volunteer coordinator to help develop a program for the volunteers.

The coordinator will be in charge of public outreach, communication and publicity, as well as developing a volunteer enrollment system, creating and organizing the pantry and collection schedules, and creating a “Friends of the Food Pantry” support group.

The position will have flexible hours, allow the coordinator to work from home and have lots of support from Mercer Island Youth and Family Services staff.

Anyone interested in the position should contact Cheryl Manriquez at (206) 275-7869.
