Volunteers are invited to help the city light up Mercer Island during the holiday season.
Set-up for the new Illuminate MI beautification event — along 78th Avenue from Southeast 27th Street to Mercerdale Park — will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 14. During this event, residents, business owners and city staff will hang lights on area trees and weed the street’s median.
The roadway will be closed periodically and social distancing measures and mask requirements will be in place to ensure safety during this time.
For information, visit: https://letstalk.mercergov.org/illuminate-mi. Volunteers are asked to pre-register no later than Nov. 13 by calling 206-275-7626 or emailing miparks@mercerisland.gov. The city also seeks sponsors for the event to help cover the purchase of lights and other items. Interested residents or organizations can use the previously listed contact information.
