Mercer Islander and Loyola Marymount University student Christina Weed is the recipient of a Donald A. Strauss Public Service Scholarship to fund a student public-service projects in her senior year.
Weed will be carrying out a women’s health campaign in rural Nicaragua to include education sessions and clinical procedures such as cervical cancer screenings. She will also visit Los Angeles focusing, again, on women’s health and education-based preventative health care.
Weed is a senior biology major at Loyola Marymount University, pre-med, and will graduate in May 2013. She graduated from Holy Names Academy in Seattle in 2009.
