Boys golf beat Kangs
Mercer Island boys golf won its conference match with Lake Washington Tuesday afternoon, beating the Kangs 187-205 at Bellevue Municipal Golf Course. The Islanders saw four of the day’s five lowest scorecards, with Zach Evens besting all scorers with a 34 for the day. Will Mansfield was right behind, finishing the course with 35 strokes, and Drew Christofferson and Brendan Yan both shot a 39. Steve Hopkins led the Kangs, shooting a 38. Mercer Island will face Bellevue at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25 at Twin Rivers Golf Course.
Girls soccer remains perfect in KingCo
Behind a goal from Kate Miller in the opening minutes of its conference matchup with Juanita, the Mercer Island girls soccer team improved to 2-0 in league competition and 4-1-1 on the season. Goalkeeper Bella Johnson recorded the shutout. The Islanders will take on Lake Washington at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25 at Lake Washington High School.
