March 30

Prowling: An Island woman reported a car prowl at 6:48 a.m. in the 7700 block of Sunset Highway. The front passenger window was smashed and items inside the car were moved around, but nothing was taken.

Missing person: An Island man reported that an Island woman was missing at 10 a.m. in the 9100 block of SE 41st St. after leaving for a three-day “church retreat.” She had a history of suicidal thoughts, and was not answering phone calls or texts. She was seen leaving her house with a packed suitcase and getting into a blue sedan driven by an unknown male. Police later reported that she was located and there was no foul play involved.

March 31

Warrant arrest: Renton police arrested a subject with a Mercer Island warrant at 3:18 a.m. in the 9600 block of SE 36th St. and booked the suspect into SCORE Jail.

Fraud: An Island man and woman reported identity theft at 10:04 a.m. in the 6200 block of E. Mercer Way. Their Bank of America accounts were compromised by a suspect who attempted to change the address to one in California, despite new cards and security features given out. The charges were flagged or denied by the bank, for no loss, and a fraud alert was placed on the accounts.

Theft: A Renton woman reported theft of petty cash on four occasions between Aug. 26, 2015 and March 7, 2016, for a loss of $400, at 10:44 a.m. in the 4400 block of 86th Ave. SE.

Shoplifting: Three witnesses saw a woman stash several bottles of liquor in one of her two large handbags without paying at 2:47 p.m. at the Rite Aid on 78th Avenue Southeast. The exact items and amount of loss were unknown, but the bags appeared empty when she entered and pretty full when she left. Surveillance video was obtained.

April 2

Arrest: Police arrested a subject at 8:08 a.m. in the 3200 block of Island Crest Way on a local misdemeanor warrant.

Burglary: An Island woman reported that her bicycle was stolen from an unsecured garage at 9:07 a.m. in the 7700 block of 81st Pl. SE.

Theft: An Island man said that his bike and cable lock were stolen at 10:22 a.m. from The Mercer’s gated parking garage in the 7600 block of SE 27th St. The lock had been cut.

Fraud: An Island man noticed his account was short on money at 1:26 p.m. in the 7800 block of SE 27th St. Chase Bank noted a $350 withdrawal from one of the company’s Colorado branches. The account was closed and a new one was opened, and possible suspect information was available.

Theft: An Island woman reported that a white flower pot was stolen from her porch at 3:48 p.m. in the 5400 block of 91st Ave. SE. She bought two potted plants the week before, and realized that one of the plants had been removed from its pot and the pot was missing.

Prowling: An Island woman reported that two pairs of reading glasses were stolen after her car was prowled at 3:54 p.m. in the 3400 block of 72nd Pl. SE, for a loss of $300.

Warrant arrest: Police took a suspect with a misdemeanor warrant into custody at 7:07 p.m. in the 4200 block of W. Mercer Way.
