WSU program comes to Mercer Island

Washington State University King County Extension’s popular Forest Stewardship coached planning course for forest landowners is coming to Mercer Island, Sept. 17. Packed with practical information and guidance from an array of resource professionals, this course uses a hands-on approach to help landowners decide how to manage their forests for ecological, recreational and/or economic benefits. Instructors guide the class through the process of developing a written forest stewardship plan, which can be used to qualify for property tax reduction.

Packed with practical information and guidance from an array of resource professionals, this course uses a hands-on approach to help landowners decide how to manage their forests for ecological, recreational and/or economic benefits. Instructors guide the class through the process of developing a written forest stewardship plan, which can be used to qualify for property tax reduction.

• How to maintain a healthy forest and improve wildlife habitat

• How to control invasive weeds and enhance native vegetation

• How to develop a stewardship plan based on individual management objectives

The class will be on Wednesday evenings through Nov. 5 at CCMV.
