Youth and Family Services compiles list of meal resources for families in need

Now that the school year is over, MISD is no longer providing students breakfast and lunch as needed.

Because the Mercer Island School District (MISD) isn’t providing breakfast or lunch to students during the summer, the city’s Youth and Family Services (MIYFS) compiled and shared a list of key alternative programs in the most recent edition of MI Weekly.

Shared resources include:

  • The City Food Pantry, which is open Wednesdays 10 a.m.-3 p.m. for eligible Island residents only. Contact emergency assistance coordinator Cheryl Manriquez at Cheryl.Manriquez@mercergov.org. to be added to the list.
  • More information about free summer meal sites for youth can be found on the United Way website.
  • Additional resources for families with kids can be found at the Pandemic Emergency School Meals Program (P-EBT) website from Washington state.
  • If you are a resident facing food-insecurity or significant financial hardship, the City’s Emergency Assistance Program is available to help. Contact Manriquez via email for more information.
