Because the Mercer Island School District (MISD) isn’t providing breakfast or lunch to students during the summer, the city’s Youth and Family Services (MIYFS) compiled and shared a list of key alternative programs in the most recent edition of MI Weekly.
Shared resources include:
- The City Food Pantry, which is open Wednesdays 10 a.m.-3 p.m. for eligible Island residents only. Contact emergency assistance coordinator Cheryl Manriquez at Cheryl.Manriquez@mercergov.org. to be added to the list.
- More information about free summer meal sites for youth can be found on the United Way website.
- Additional resources for families with kids can be found at the Pandemic Emergency School Meals Program (P-EBT) website from Washington state.
- If you are a resident facing food-insecurity or significant financial hardship, the City’s Emergency Assistance Program is available to help. Contact Manriquez via email for more information.
