November 15, 1946 – April 2, 2024
Alan Dean Quigley was born on November 15, 1946 in Doctors’ Hospital in Seattle; he was born again into Christ on September 11, 1971. One of his greatest joys was seeing a sister accept Christ 15 months later. As a ten year church administrator and a junior high youth pastor, Alan was, with God’s help, able to see many kids accept Christ.
Alan was the son of Dean and Donna Quigley of Mercer Island and attended various schools throughout the US due to Dean’s work with the Boeing Company. Alan attended East Seattle Elementary School and the MI junior High in-between travels and was a 1964 graduate of Mercer Island High School and went on to study at Western University and the UW.
Due to his traveling from a very young age it became a life-long passion. England, with some schooling at Capenwray, Russia and Venice, Italy were the focus of many visits. The rest of the world was covered including Vietnam as a chaplain’s assistant in the US Army.
A designer of home, garden and seasonal decoration, it was a 30 year career of pure enjoyment. Hobbies included the piano, stamp collecting, antiques, cars (especially his Bentley), MahJongg (both Chinese and American versions), pinochle, pea patches, books, collecting art and painting (mostly landscapes). Alan leaves behind his two sisters, Linda & husband Marvin, and Patty, along with the last of his uncles and aunts, and many cousins and nieces and nephews.
Known for his sharp humor and quick wit, Alan will be missed by family and friends. He became a faithful steward of God’s resources to family, friends and his church.
Alan passed into glory on April 2, 2024 and is now healed in the presence of His Lord and Savior. Memorial services are scheduled for April 20th at 10:30 AM at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Seattle.
