Anita Katsman Friedman passed away peacefully on August 13, 2016.
Anita was born on July 15, 1931 in Seattle Washington to parents Louis and Marion Katsman, longtime Seattle residents. She attended Garfield High school, and graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Sociology. She began her career with the Seattle-King County Council of Camp Fire Girls, and was later appointed to their Board of Directors.
In 1952 she married Louis A Friedman, also a Seattle native. They resided on Mercer Island for over 50 years – raising their 3 children, Laurie, Michael, and Jonathan. Anita was a volunteer for many charitable organizations, but her main focus in life was her family, and extended family. She truly cherished each one, and became very involved in the lives of her grandchildren. She also had a very special and loving relationship with her brothers – Alvin and Auve Katsman.
Anita began a second career in Real Estate in 1985, specializing in the sellout of condominium buildings. She was the project manager of sales in over thirty buildings of new construction condominiums. She enjoyed her entire career with Williams marketing, now Matrix Real Estate.
She was predeceased by her parents Louis and Marion Katsman, and husband Louis Friedman. Survivors include her daughter Laurie (Henry) Lizer of Los Angeles, sons Michael (Debbie) Friedman of Los Angeles, and Jonathan (Lori) Friedman of Mercer Island, eight grandchildren, Zvi (Tiffany) Katz, Elena (Brandon) Kirkland, Sarah (Avraham) Solomon, Shoshana Lizer, Andrew Friedman, Jason Friedman, Ryan Friedman, Kayla Friedman, and three great grandchildren, Seth, Benjamin, and Aaron Katz.
