Anne Corley-Lewis, born on August 30, 1937, in Sanford, NC, died on Wednesday, July 25, 2018, in Seattle, WA. She had lived in Bristol, VA, until 2011, when she moved to be with her husband, Robert Lewis, and live on Mercer Island, WA. Her husband, Bob; son, Mark; daughter, Suzanne, daughter in law Suzanne Rowe and Bob’s son Chris and daughter in law Lisa were with her at her passing.
Anne lived a full life. She was a graduate of the University of North Carolina, was the first woman to be elected to the City Council in Bristol, Virginia. She served as a representative of the Presbyterian Church in the overseas missions. She tutored grade school students in one of the poorest schools in Seattle. She handmade over 100 dresses and pants for poor children in South and Central America and was always helping others. Her grand spirit and kindness will be missed by all.
There will be a memorial service at the Mercer Island Presbyterian Church on Thursday, August 23, 2018, at 2 p.m. She requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Environmental Defense Fund or the Nature Conservancy.
