Candy Weber
01/04/47 – 12/18/10
Candace R. Weber passed away peacefully on December 18, 2010, in her home on Mercer Island, surrounded by her family. Daughter of Leonard and Lillian Olson, “Candy” was born on January 4, 1947, in Duluth, Minnesota. As an Army brat, she moved around the U.S. and Europe for much of her childhood–even living in Germany on two occasions, and graduating from high school in Heidelberg. Candy returned to the States to attend Washington State University in Pullman, where she studied Communication. A huge Cougar fan, one of Candy’s favorite phrases was, “Go Cougs!” She moved to Mercer Island in the mid-70s, where she raised her two children, Lenny and Jennie. She was a Microsoftie in the early 1980s and worked for many other well-known Seattle and Northwest-based companies. Candy was a freelance marketing director for several years and also worked for the City of Mercer Island on Project Renaissance – a Chamber of Commerce campaign whose ultimate results are now visible as retail and residential growth in the Mercer Island Village. She combined her passion for marketing communications with a great interest in the healthcare field by thriving, personally and professionally, for several years as a Marketing Manager with Community Health Plan of Washington in Seattle. Candy had a zest for life and loved traveling, gardening, laughing hysterically, spending time with her family and vacationing at the beaches of Ocean Shores, Washington and Maui, Hawaii. She loved her family and friends dearly, often entertaining in her home for holidays and special occasions. Friends fondly remember always being greeted with a warm smile, a hug and a kiss as they entered her home. Candy is survived by her husband, Gary Weber; children Leonard Archer and Jennifer Wandler; and father Leonard Olson. A memorial/celebration of life will be held January 22, 2011, at 2pm at the Mercer Island Community Center, 8236 SE 24th Street, Mercer Island, WA 98040.
