“Charlie” was born in Baltimore, MD on November 20, 1928, and died July 9, 2022. He lived in Seattle and on Mercer Island for 62 years with his wife, “Chris”, raising their four children and enjoying their ten grandchildren. Following early education in Baltimore, Charlie graduated from Western Maryland (now McDaniel) College and the
University of Maryland School of Medicine, graduating in 1954. After his internship at the University of Michigan Medical Center, he served two years in the USAF, then returned to Michigan for residency. Charlie met his future wife, Ruth Ann “Chris” Huber during this period, and they were married in 1958. They moved to Seattle in July, 1960, when Charlie joined the staff of the Mason Clinic as a Dermatologist. He retired from the Clinic in December 1997. His beloved wife, Chris, predeceased him in February 2013.
Charlie enjoyed skiing, biking, hiking and spending time with friends and family at their Orcas Island cabin. He will be dearly missed by his son Charles III of Monroe, New Hampshire, son Bill (Jim) of Bellevue, daughter Cindy Baker (Dave) of Mercer Island, daughter Lynda Hamilton (Brooke) of Mercer Island and ten grandchildren: Felicia, Stephanie, Max, Bettina, Julie, Will, Ben, Kevin, Kate and Constance.
The family will celebrate Charlie’s life privately, followed by a graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Virginia Mason Franciscan Health Foundation, P.O Box 1930, D-1MF, Seattle 98111-1930, or to a charity of your choice.
