Christopher J. Norton of Bellevue, WA passed away at 5pm on May 3, 2018 after a ten year battle with multiple myeloma.
Chris was born in Wichita, Kansas to Robert P. and Joan Norton on November 21, 1958. The family relocated to Mercer Island in 1963 when Robert was transferred with Boeing. Chris attended Island Park Elementary, South Mercer Junior High and graduated from Mercer Island High School in 1977. He then attended Western Washington State in Bellingham.
Sports were the love of Chris’ life when he was young. Growing up he played football, basketball, baseball, soccer and golf. If a sport had a ball, Chris would play it. Some of his fondest memories were participating in Little Dribblers and playing basketball for MIHS.
The love of his adult life was his two children, Bobby and Nikki, who both attended Mercer Island High School.
Chris followed in his father’s footsteps and worked at Boeing for 20 years as a program manager. He was fascinated by the Civil War and conducted in-depth research in preparation for writing a novel, which he didn’t get a chance to finish.
Chris is survived by Bobby, Nikki, brother Bill and sister Pam.
A memorial service will be held May 18 at 3pm at Emmanuel Episcopal Church on Mercer Island.
