Clarence A. Cameron passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on January 4, 2010. Clarence was born February 21, 1919 in Gladwin Michigan. He was raised in Paw Paw, Michigan and relocated to the Seattle area after serving in World War II.Clarence was preceded in death by his wife Patricia in 1992. They were married for forty nine years. He met Patricia when he was stationed at Ft. Lewis. They were married and he was sent over seas to serve in the African Theater and in Italy. While serving, he distinguished himself by earning the silver star, two purple hearts with oak leaf cluster and three bronze stars among other numerous honors. After returning home he and Patricia established their home in Bellevue. He worked nights and weekends building their next home on Mercer Island, completing it in 1953. That remained his family home until his death. Clarence was a carpenter by trade and eventually established his own construction company. His interests included fishing, hunting, hiking and camping. He was also an avid gardener and a member of the Rhododendron Society. He was an avid bird watcher. He also helped out Patricia’s orthopedic hospital guild to the extent that the ladies made him an honorary member. He enjoyed spending time with his family and “coffee clutch” and an occasional trip to the local casinos.Clarence is survived by daughter Kathryn Mackey (David) of Snohomish, son James Cameron (Debbie) of Bellevue, brother-in-law Charles Phillips of Mercer Island, sister Mae Goodenough of Paw Paw, MI, six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
