David Lerner
David Lerner, a resident of Mercer Island for over 45 years, peacefully passed away at the Kline Galland Home on Friday, July 13, 2012. David was born January 20, 1918 in Elk River, Minnesota.David retired in 1987 to satisfy his lifelong passion for learning. He attended the University of Washington as an access student and enjoyed several years with his friends at class and their weekly lunches together. He was an excellent Bridge player and enjoyed his weekly afternoon bridge games. David’s lasting legacy is a calm sense of self, warm smile and thoughtful nature. He is survived by his wife Joan, son Leigh Lerner, and daughters Trudie Lerner and Terry Brashem (and Mark Brashem). His grandchildren include Meredith Bloom, Sasha Lerner, Stacie Brashem and Kevin Brashem. His great grandson, Jacob Bloom was born April 12, 2012. He is also survived by his two nephews, Bruce and Mark Lerner who have always been very close to their Uncle David.A service celebrating David’s life was held at Temple De Hirsch Sinai Seattle Chapel on Monday, July 16th. Donations in David’s memory can be made to City of Hope or Seattle’s Kline Galland Home.
