Dorian Bersos
April 10, 1960 – June 10, 2015
After a brief battle with cancer, Dorian died peacefully at the hospital, surrounded by love and positive thoughts and memories outpoured from her family and friends.
Dorian Marisa Goucher Bersos lived on Mercer Island for most of her life, growing up in the public schools, attending church at Emmanuel, and meeting her husband, Bob Bersos, on the island as well. She and her family lived briefly off of Mercer Island, during which time Dorian attended and graduated from the University of Puget Sound before moving back to the island.
Dorian’s nurturing spirit ranged far beyond her family and close friends to include her Emmanuel family and numerous young people. She was a ‘pied piper’ of children at the Mercerwood Shore Club Swim Team where she volunteered for more than a decade. She also showed her love and admiration of children when she ran her daycare.
She was raised in Emmanuel Episcopal Church and as an adult, she worked there for more than twenty-five years, first as the bookkeeper and then as facilities manager. Even in her profession, she ‘watched over’ others.
Aside from being a ‘mom to all,’ Dorian will be remembered for her compassion, her sense of humor, her intelligence, her open-mindedness, her faith, her perseverance, and for consistently choosing love above all else.
Dorian is survived by her husband Bob; her children Joshua, Michael (Tiffany) and Laura; her brother, Geoffrey Goucher; her grand-dogs, Barney and Gus.
A celebration of Dorian’s life will be held on Monday, July 6th at 2:00 pm at Emmanuel Episcopal Church.
There is a Dorian Bersos Memorial Account set up at Chase Bank and at Emmanuel Episcopal Church of Mercer Island.
