Elizabeth Ann Queal

Elizabeth Ann Queal passed away peacefully on July 22, 2010 at the age of 86, surrounded by her family. A 51 year resident of Mercer Island, Betty Ann led a fulfilling life as a devoted wife and mother. She was an avid sportswoman, enjoying tennis, golf, swimming and numerous outdoor pursuits. Her competitive spirit, independent character and generous nature were admired by all who knew her. In the 1960’s, she and husband Ralph committed their time and energy to the Mercer Island Presbyterian Church as youth group leaders, while Betty Ann also volunteered in various aspects for the King County Council of Campfire Girls into the 1970’s. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, and is survived by daughters Jan Queal (h. Greg Laughlin) of Boulder, Colorado; Barbara Queal (h. Dan Olson) of Ketchum, Idaho; brother James Orwig of Berea Kentucky, and numerous nieces and nephews. A private memorial service will be held in August at the family summer home in Michigan, with a celebration of her life to be held locally in the fall.In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Group Health Foundation, Department 4194, PO Box 34936, Seattle WA 98124-9847.
