August 9, 1931-January 17, 2017

JoAnn Zsitvay, beloved mother and a friend to all lived a good life! She died Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at the age of 85.

She will be sorely missed by her three children Becky Carr/Randy Spade (Whitmore, CA), Jan Gribble (Mercer Island, WA) and Audie/Mirna Sherberg (Santa Maria, CA) seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

Born August 9, 1931 in Deer River, Minnesota, she was the oldest of 5 children (JoAnn, Mike Kerttula (Allen, WA), Becky Waipa (Hawaii) Caroline, and Bruce Burns (Kent, WA) to Sven Kerttula and Harriet Obert Burns. As a child she moved to Bremerton, WA where she attended high school and was crowned Miss Kitsap County. She went on to marry Auden Sherberg and after many moves with Audie being transferred in the grocery business, settled on Mercer Island, WA. to raise their three children. She later became a hairdresser and owned five hair salons on Mercer Island. She later divorced and married Laszlo Zsitvay.

JoAnn led a long and productive life with cherished family and friends who remember her as someone that could organize, and throw the best family reunions and parties ever, she loved people and life! “An end of an Era”.
