Holger was born on May 19, 1966, in Mainz-Mombach, Germany. He passed away peacefully on December 3, 2018, in Kirkland, WA.
He is survived by Michelle, his loving wife of 21 years; children, Alexander, Nicholas, and Max; and parents, Peter and Irmgard Mueller. Preceded in death in 2005 by his brother, Karsten.
Growing up in Bodenheim, Germany, Holger enjoyed playing Team Handball. He graduated from the University of Mannheim in 1994, having spent a year abroad at the University of Arizona. He so liked his overseas experience that he returned to obtain his MBA from the University of Texas at Austin, graduating in 1996. It was in this program that he met his wife, Michelle. Holger began his career in Frankfurt, Germany, with The Boston Consulting Group. He and Michelle lived there until Holger transferred with BCG to Toronto, Canada, in 1999. Here is where their first two children, Alexander and Nicholas, were born. In 2002, Holger and his family returned to the U.S. where Holger began work for Limited Brands in Columbus, Ohio. This is where their youngest, Max, was born. In 2014, a job opportunity at FTD brought the family to the Chicago area for a short stay. In 2016, the family moved to Mercer Island where Holger served as COO for Brooks Sports, headquartered in Seattle. Although at Brooks for less than three years, Holger really appreciated his time there. He felt a huge commitment to the company and thoroughly enjoyed working with his colleagues. He will be sadly missed by all.
