Janice Wilson-Neidhart
Janice Wilson-Neidhart passed away suddenly of heart failure on December 30, 2011. She was a Mercer Island resident for the last 50 years of her life. She taught Math and Science at North Mercer Jr. High and retired in 1982.Janice was born on January 26, 1932 in Redmond Falls, Minnesota to Vernon Zumwinkle & Stella Ahrens. She grew up on a rural farm in southwest Minnesota, near the town of Morton. Janice graduated from Morton High School in 1949 and was the class Valedictorian. She graduated from St. Cloud University, majoring in Biology & Science. All three of her children, Debbie, Laurie, & Ward Wilson attended Mercer Island High School. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge, gardening, cross-word puzzles, attending lectures, and spending time with her husband, family, and 3 year old grand-daughter. She never missed a good garage sale on the island, and was especially famous for doing her own every summer. Janice was kind, generous, sweet, giving, warm and compassionate. She was loved and admired by so many and there was nothing she would not do for her husband, family or friends, because she always thought of others first. She truly was ‘one of a kind’… An amazing wife, mother & grandmother. Words cannot express how much this wonderful woman will be missed! She is survived by her husband Don Neidhart, son Ward Wilson, daughter-in-law Rebecca Armour-Wilson, and granddaughter Lauren Wilson. Her Memorial Service will be held at 1pm on May 12, 2012 at the Mercer Island Community Center.
