Jeanette Marie Spak, beloved wife of Gary Spak for over 49 years, died June 1, 2013 on Mercer Island, WA, where she has been a resident since 1965. Jeanette was born September 17, 1937 in Farwell, Nebraska to George and Gertrude (Pawloski) Lukasiewicz. She graduated from Farwell High School and attended Kearney State Teachers College in Kearney, NE.
Jeanette enjoyed a variety of jobs in her lifetime, including positions at American Airlines, Equifax, Smith & Hawken, See’s Candies, Target, Siler’s Cleaners and 6001 Apartments. Her hobbies and interests included outdoor activities like gardening and camping, and she enjoyed spectator sports such as Seahawks and WSU Cougar Football – where she was affectionately known as “Coug-Madre”. She loved her family and she loved her church. She was an avid participant in volunteer work for St. Monica’s including working with the Rosary Makers.
Jeanette is survived by her husband Gary and their four children: Patrick Spak (Diana) of Woodinville, WA, Sherry Wahl (Wes) of La Quinta, CA, David Spak (Kim) of Redondo Beach, CA and Greg Spak (Shine) of Issaquah, WA. She is also survived by her brother Larry Lukasiewicz (Kay) of Farwell, NE. and her loving grandchildren: Patrick, Maria, Kevin, Jacqueline, Brady and Haley.
Friends are invited to join the family for a time of visitation and viewing from 5-8pm on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Flintoft’s Funeral Home 540 East Sunset Way, Issaquah, WA. A rosary will be said at 6pm in Flintoft’s Chapel. Her Funeral Mass will begin at 1pm on Friday at St. Monica Catholic Church, 4301 88th Ave SE, Mercer Island.
