Jill Burton-Dascher passed away quietly, surrounded by her daughters, on November 18, 2021, at the age of 79.
Jill was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 21, 1942 to Jack and Jeanne Burton and moved to Mercer Island at a young age. She attended Whitman College where she majored in English and then UPS where she helped charter the sorority Kappa Alpha Theta. Out of college she worked as an English teacher, an insurance underwriter and then at Boeing where she met Art Dascher. They were married in 1967 and returned to MI to raise two children and countless animals. Jill wrote a humor column for the Mercer Island Reporter when her children were young. In the early 80’s she transitioned her energies to the Greater Seattle Intergroup and retired from there in 2005 after 23 years of service. Outside of work Jill enjoyed reading, writing, cooking and entertaining at her kitchen table. Shortly after her husband passed away Jill and her basset hound moved to Bellingham, Washington for 10 years prior to moving to the Stanwood area to rest in her final years.
Jill is survived by her two children Megan Watkins (husband Julian) and Erica Dascher (husband Dave) and five grandchildren: Dylan, Anna, Sarsen, Jack and Keep. A celebration of her life with family and friends will occur in late spring.
