Jim Frick
Jim died April 24th due to complications from a fall. He was born in Vernon, Texas, on January 21, 1919 to Maude and Louis Frick. He was a man of integrity, with a dry sense of humor, and a moral strength of right and wrong which he taught his daughters, Alanna Frick Burdell and Anita Frick. He expected the same of others. The Depression years were very hard on his family and the impression it left on him played a part of who he was until his death. He served our country as an enlisted Naval Torpedoman’s Mate 2nd Class on the aircraft carrier Saratoga, in the Pacific arena of World War II, honorably discharged because of injuries. He arrived in Seattle, where he met and married Eileene Anderson. He distinguished himself in protecting our Washington borders as a U.S. Customs Agent until his retirement in 1977. He enjoyed bridge, blackjack, was an avid fisherman, and became a level 32nd Mason until age prevented it!His legacy is three granddaughters, two grandsons-in-law and four great-grandchildren: Sarah Burdell, Katie Burdell Busby (& John), Charlie, Lois, and Laura Burdell Tetreault (& Matthew), Dexter and Lydia of Oakton, Virginia.A private military service will be held in his honor and a celebration of his life will be June 15 on Mercer Island. Please contact the family for more details. A special thanks to all of you who made Jim’s later years so full of love and support! Especially to the Community Center Covenant Shores Tuesday-Thursday lunch group! In Lieu of flowers donations may be given to the Senior Foundation of Mercer Island – P.O. Box 51.
