John Elliot Farrell passed away on December 16, 2021 at the age of 87. John was loved by so many and had a wonderfully dry sense of humor. He was a dedicated and involved father with his daughters Lisa and Deanna, always driving to swim meets, volunteering as a timer with his own special stopwatch, taking his girls to camp or to play at friends’ houses.
John was a good cook and loved to make his special chicken and pears dinner. Family was very important to him and he was blessed to be married to his wife Jane for over 50 years. He was surrounded by five grandchildren, William, Johnny, Samantha, Alison and Nolan whom he adored. He enjoyed attending their many activities, including sports, band concerts, plays and ballet recitals. John was involved in his local church, Emmanuel Episcopal Church on Mercer Island for decades. He sat on the Vestry committee, sang in the choir and volunteered when and wherever needed. He was a valued community member.
John worked at Boeing for over 47 years and was involved in many exciting projects, including the Minuteman Missile, B2 Bomber and G-Force suits. We remember his 45th year dinner celebration at Canlis in Seattle. It was such a special evening for him to be honored for all of his hard work and dedication and we were honored to sit beside him.
John was dedicated to his country and served in the Navy for 4 years and the stories he had to tell could keep you entertained for hours.
Those who are close to the family understand the struggles we endured the last years of his life. John was laid to rest with his wife Jane on April 16, 2022 in a private family service at Emmanuel Episcopal Church surrounded by his daughters, son-in-laws and grandchildren. We are grateful that he is finally at peace and resting with his wife Jane. John will be dearly missed by his family.
