September 28, 1941- April 9, 2024

John Roser, who was a loving husband of 62 years, an incredible father of three, and an adoring “Pops” to four granddaughters, died April 9th, 2024, of causes incident to dementia. He was born to Elaine Millet and Louis A. Roser on September 28th, 1941, in Salt Lake City, Utah. At the age of 7, his father died and at 11, his mother was remarried to Malcolm Isaacson and the family moved to Hillsborough, California. He attended Burlingame Highschool and graduated from the University of Arizona, during which time he met and married the love of his life, Eleanor “Ellie” Olwell in 1962. They settled and raised their children on Mercer Island. Later they built a second home on Lopez Island where he worked and supported the community and spent some of his most cherished moments.

After 30 years of hard work, he sold his business, Seawest Distributors, and finally had time to pursue his love of art. His art work included carved birds, bronze sculptures and paintings that were shown in galleries in Santa Fe, Carmel, Salt Lake City, Anacortes and Lopez Island. Besides being a skilled craftsman and gifted artist, he loved anything outdoors and was ever the patient teacher as he shared his enthusiasm for hiking, boating, sailing, skiing, soccer and love of fishing with his entire family. He always said, “Anything worth doing is worth doing well” and as a human being, he more than lived up to that motto.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Ellie, his three children, Michael Roser (Clara), Amy Roser Sheehan (KC) and David Roser, his brother Alan Roser (Vicki), and his granddaughters, Bailey and Cate Sheehan and Rachel and Sydney Roser.
