Karin A. Pangborn, of Mercer Island died in her home, surrounded by family, on Monday, February 2, 2020. She was 82 years of age.
Karin was born on June 12, 1937 in Seattle, Washington, the daughter of Thomas and Dorothea Allen. She graduated Bellevue High School and attended University of Washington. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi.
Karin spent much of her time working to raise money for Seattle Children’s Hospital. With her sister, Joan, they created the Francis Griffith Guild, the Junior Orthopedic Guild and the “Festival of Trees” program; the entirety of the proceeds went to Seattle Children’s. She also spent 37 years volunteering at Mercer Island Youth and Family Services.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Redmond James Pangborn, Jr., her sister, Joan Allen of Bellingham, Washington, her two sons, Jim Pangborn (Kelly), of Sammamish, Washington and Tom Pangborn (Amy) of Snoqualmie, Washington and her four grand kids, Melissa, Allison, Austin and Grace.
