LaFaye Smart, born in Hebron, Neb., on Dec. 10, 1930, died suddenly due to complications from pneumonia at Overlake Hospital on May 25, 2009.
Mrs. Smart was a great cook and kept everything in her life neat, clean and organized. She was passionate about cats, volunteered at the Woodland Park Zoo and Overlake Hospital, and said she would have been a great salesperson if she had a career beyond raising her six children. She also had a wild side, when she parachuted from a plane in her sixties. Her wishes were to have a small family service in the mountains above Leavenworth. Mrs. Smart was preceded in death by her mother, Alta Chilcott; brother, Dick Chilcott; and son, Curt Smart.
She is survived by her five children, Brad (Judy), Doug, Cyd Phillips (Dan), Sue-Dee and Darren; grandchildren, Melissa, Ryan (Elizabeth), Charlie, Caleb and Tyler; and sister, Helen Potvin, of California. Remembrances are suggested to the Bailey-Boushay House, part of the Virginia Mason Hospital, at (206) 583-6083.
