21 October 1922 to 31 May 2018

Mom passed away peacefully on 31 May 2018. A 65 year resident of Mercer Island, she was the fifth of six children of Albert and Marie Hofmeister of Ojai, California. She earned her BS in nursing from USC and California Hospital School of Nursing, and was a member of the US Nurses Cadet Corp. She met her future husband, Robert Levenson during a clinical rotation at Harborview Hospital in Seattle. They married in 1947 and were together until his death in 2011.

While we were growing up, Mom took a break from nursing, though keeping connected with her career by volunteering in the community and on the Mercer Island school board Citizen’s Advisory Council. She ultimately returned to nursing, spending 15 years working for the Villa Care system on Mercer Island. She was a founding member of Redeemer Lutheran Church on Mercer Island.

Mom was a tireless caregiver, and all of us appreciate her accomplishments. She is greatly missed by her 6 children, Robert Jr (Sabrina), Albert (Susan), David, Nancy Burnett, Linda, and Mary (Paul Higinbotham), and 7 grandchildren, Mira, Shana, Amy, and Case Levenson, Daniel Burnett, and Marie and Hugh Higinbotham. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Dr. Robert Levenson, Son-in-law Gary Burnett, and grandson David Scott Burnett.
