Marion Virginia White
Marion Virginia White, 89, of Mercer Island, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2012. Marion was born to the late Lester and Anna Smith, January 14, 1923, in Galesburg, Illinois. Marion graduated from Galesburg High School in 1942. She married the late Robert E. White in 1943. Together they lived in a variety of countries and cities before relocating to Mercer Island in 1970. Bob passed away in 1979.Marion was proud of being a wife, mother and grandmother to her many loved ones. She was an active member of the Lakeside #202 Chapter of Eastern Star and attended the Mercer Island Methodist church. She loved to travel and took a number of cruises and trips around the world during her later years. Marion was a master seamstress, sewing for family and friends, many on Mercer Island. She enjoyed baby sitting and working in her lovely flower garden. She attended Mercer Island Methodist Church where she loved to sing in the church choir.Marion is survived by two brothers and their wives, Lester and Vilma Smith of Galesburg, Illinois and Lawrence and Marcia Smith of Fort Collins, Colorado; her two children and their spouses, Virginia and Rich Semler of Liberty Lake, Washington, Rose and Pete Webb of Puyallup, Washington; eight grandchildren, Rob Forras of Nampa, Idaho, Tina Webb of Seattle, Heidi Richie of Puyallup, Travis Semler of Spokane, Wendy Hornstein of Menlo Park, California, Angie Robertson of Spokane, Earl Webb of Puyallup, and Bill Webb of Ellensburg; and 6 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 100 W. Harrison St. #200, Seattle, WA 98119. A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Sunset Hills Cemetery, 1215 145th Place SE, Bellevue, Washington.
