Marjorie McGill
Phoebe Winifred Marjorie McGill (Reid) passed away at Overlake Hospital on November 22, 2014 in Bellevue, WA after a long illness. She was in her 96th year.
Marjorie was born on February 13, 1919 in Huntingdon Quebec to the Rev. Charles John Reid and Martha Reid (Somers). She married William Richard McGill in 1945. After residing for short periods in Ottawa, Montreal Canada, South Portland, and Limerick Maine, they moved across the United States with their three children in 1960 to Daly City, CA and finally moved north to their much loved and long term home on Mercer Island
During WWII, Marjorie worked in the Government offices in Ottawa to support the war effort, then retired after the war to raise a family of three boys. She was very committed to her church at Emmanuel Episcopal on Mercer Island as well as participating in church fund raising and prayer groups. She had a lifetime commitment to learning and expanding her spiritual knowledge.
Marjorie was a patient and supportive Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother with a passion for art and travel. She enjoyed reading and gardening at her residence on Mercer Island.
Marjorie is survived by her Sister in Law Verna Reid of Calgary, son James Cameron and daughter in law Judith Bailey (Attwood) of Camano Island, WA, son Donald Angus of Redmond, WA, grandson Kelly Cameron McGill, wife Stefanie (Kauzlerich) and great-grandchildren Cameron John and Emma Jane of Stanwood, WA, Vicki Russell (Bailey) and family, Scott Bailey and family, along with many nieces and nephews across Canada.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Martha Reid, her husband, William” Bill” Richard McGill; her son Charles Murphy McGill, her beloved siblings, Margaret Edna “Phyllis” Reid, Elizabeth Anne Jandrew, William Thomas Reid, Edith Mary Bell, John “Jack” Charles Reid, Walter Lang Towel Reid, Douglas Craig Somers Reid and Arthur Ardmore Stacey Reid. Marjorie will be missed by one and all.
Marjorie will be laid to rest in a church service on December 13, 2014, 11 a.m., at Emmanuel Episcopal Church on Mercer Island. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Marjorie’s life. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Overlake Medical Center Foundation or Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission.
