Martherese Kortooms-Breuer, beloved wife of Larry and devoted mother of Zyanya, born on May 27, 1952, in Beek, Holland, died surrounded by loved ones on Nov. 6, 2008. She trained as a medical assistant, fashion designer, massage therapist and meditation teacher. Her wonderful creativity was evident in her cooking, dress designing and photography. She traveled extensively to many parts of the world, including India, which held a special place in her heart. In India, she studied in ashrams.
She was a vibrant, caring person who touched the hearts of all those who came into contact with her. She volunteered for many organizations and causes, including the Vajra Flame Foundation, as well as teaching meditation and nonviolence to prison inmates. She transformed the lives of many by her teachings. Her infectious laugh and wonderful smile will remain in the memory of all who knew her.
She is survived by her mother, brother, sisters and many other dear friends and family members.
Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 23, at The Center for Spiritual Living, 5801 Sand Point Way N.E., Seattle, 98105.
