May Florence Hanson Freeman, a 54-year Island resident, died peacefully in her sleep on March 22, 2009, and went to be with the Lord. She was born on Aug. 26, 1925. Mrs. Freeman was very proud of her Swedish heritage and built an extremely warm and loving home around Swedish tradition and love. She was a second-generation, active lifetime member of the North Star Council for Alcohol and Drug Education.

Mrs. Freeman is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, John Freeman; son, Dan Freeman (Lisa); daughter, Britt Meyer (Robert); grandchildren, Krystal, Brandi, Alexa and Codee; and sisters, Marianne Hanson and Carolee Jones (Ralph). Remembrances are suggested to the North Star Council.
