Ramsay Adam Scott Gillespie died in Perth, Western Australia on December 13, 2016. He was our beloved dad, granddad, and husband of 61 years to mum, Elizabeth Myron. A typical Scot, he was the first of his family born in South Africa and never wavered from the austere Scottish diet of meat and potatoes!!

He lived in Southern Africa, including Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia) and Zimbabwe for almost 69 years till he took mum and wandered off to Perth, where his only son and family resided. He visited us on Mercer Island several times and was struck by the beauty of our island, he did however, find our little roads a challenge and “killed thousands of ​road ​turtles.”​ His impeccable justification for this mass murder was that we drove on the wrong side of the road!

Dad died peacefully, and will be remembered at a Requiem Mass at St. Bernadette’s Parish in Mount Hawthorne, in Perth on Saturday December 17th followed by a private cremation.

His children, Deborah (Mario), Bridget (Richard), and Hugh (Annabel) will love him forever and remember his kindness. His grandchildren, Paul, Thomas, and Hannah Ehlers, William, Philip, and Simon Paverd, and Angus, Nicholas, and Hamish Gillespie thought he was a wonderful granddad, even though he was always asking them to “Be a pal and bring me the newspaper!”​
