Ruth Irene (Thoreson) Haven was born on November 17, 1930 in Spooner, WI to Mable Ruth (Bolin) Thoreson and Oscar Theodore Thoreson. Irene passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on Friday, February 9, 2018 in Seattle, WA surrounded by her family.
Irene graduated from Superior East High School in 1948 in Superior, WI. She was an X-ray Technician and worked in Superior, WI, before moving to Seattle, WA with her family where she did the same job at Virginia Mason Hospital.
Irene met her future husband Stan (Stanley Harold Haven) on a blind date and they were married on June 4, 1955 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Seattle, WA. They built a home on Mercer Island where they raised their four children. She was a devoted wife of 56 years before Stan’s passing in 2012, loving mother, proud grandmother and beloved friend to many.
Earlier in life she was avid book reader and bible study leader. She enjoyed making dried flower arrangements, gardening, church activities, spending time boating and visiting with friends.
Irene’s greatest loves later in life were her four children and seven grandchildren. She is survived by her four children: son, Jeff (Liz) Haven, daughter, Kristi (Bob) Mauck, son, Dean (Alison) Haven, daughter, Ann Haven and her grandchildren: Julia, Sean, Kai, Sam, Casey, Myka and Avvi.
A Celebration of her life will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church 8501 SE 40th St Mercer Island, WA 98040 at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 26, 2018.
