Sheila K. Richardson was born on November 21, 1944 in Seattle, Washington. She attended primary schools in Seattle and Mercer Island, graduating from Mercer Island High School in 1963. Sheila attended the University of Washington, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Education and obtained her Teaching Certificate in 1967.
Sheila married Bob Richardson in 1968 and began teaching Home Economics in the Renton School district. In 1974, Bob and Sheila moved to Mercer Island where they raised their two daughters, Kristine and Kelly. Sheila returned to teaching and providing support for K-12 needs throughout the Mercer Island School District over the last 20 years.
Throughout her life, she dedicated service to a variety of non-profit organizations, from Mercer Island Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Mercer Island Schools PTA, Mercer Island Children’s Choir and various other local arts and athletic groups.
Sheila’s interests stemmed from her career as an educator, ranging from history, arts, cooking, travel, music and most of all her family and dear friends. Sheila is survived by her husband Bob, her two daughters Kristine and Kelly, her brother Dan, her sister Sue and her beloved pets Teddy and Lola.
In lieu of flowers or donations, Sheila requests that prayers go out for the well-being of children and their families. A memorial service has taken place for family.
