March 2, 1950 – October 3, 2022
Stephen “Steve” Bosetti was born on March 2nd, 1950 in Sacramento, CA to Al and Jeanne Bosetti. He passed away on October 3rd, 2022 in Seattle, WA at the age of 72. He was a longtime resident and lover of Mercer Island. He is survived by his partner, Jan Snook and his daughters Erin and Nicole. He is preceded in death by his mother, father and wife, Lynne Cardinal, who passed in 2012.
Steve was a lover of music, food, travel, Hawaiian shirts, skiing, theater (especially the Village Theater in Issaquah), his beloved cats (8 over his lifetime), the Seattle Mariners, and most of all, spending time with his family and friends.
He was a gifted musician, a part of up to 4 bands at a time playing bass and saxophone in jazz, contemporary and big bands. At home he dabbled in piano, drums and guitar. He played trumpet in his high school band, starting a lifelong love of music and performing. His daughters have fond memories of falling asleep to him practicing saxophone, piano and bass downstairs.
Steve was a self-proclaimed “Citizen of the West” and adored the mountain west, his home state of California and the Pacific Northwest. He was an Eagle Scout in Troop 255 in Sacramento. He graduated from Whittier College as well as California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obisbo for his degree in architecture. After graduating, he lived with his wife, Lynne, in Los Angeles for over 25 years, moving to Mercer Island to raise his two girls in 1995.
Steve worked as an architect in Los Angeles and in Seattle, at the Nadel Partnership, DLR Group and Ruhl Parr and Associates. He was especially proud of his work on the Tulalip Casino and the Ala Moana Shopping Center in Hawaii. He had a strong passion for contemporary architecture and would often bring his family around southern California to view his work through the 90s and early 2000s.
After retirement, Steve was an avid traveler with his partner and “Sweetie” Jan Snook. Through the years they traveled to India, Italy, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Egypt, Thailand, Panama, Mexico, Jordan and more.
His memorial will be celebrated on Nov. 12, 2022, at Mercer Island Presbyterian Church at 2 pm. Hawaiian shirts are welcome.
