Wilmer Wilfred Lessard

Wilmer Wilfred Lessard, beloved father, died on Oct. 11, 2009. He was born on April 21, 1924, in Lebanon, Ore. Throughout his early years, Mr. Lessard worked at his father’s butcher shop. After Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, at which time the Navy sent him to both Oregon State University and Harvard. After this, he spent the remainder of the war in the Pacific Theater as the paymaster of the fleet and an officer in the Supply Corps. It was shortly after the war ended that he would meet the love of his life, Jean Katherine Sieber.

After a very brief courtship, the two ran off to Reno and were married for 42 loving years, during which time the two were inseparable.

Shortly after the two were married, Mr. Lessard took a job with the Veteran’s Administration for a time. After that gig ran its course, the couple moved up to Seattle and took an apartment on Queen Anne Hill. It was at this point in time that Mr. Lessard started his corporate career with Moore Business Forms, where he spent 30 years. He then took retirement to take care of Jean, as she was in declining health.

Mr. Lessard was preceded in death by his parents, W.P. and Beulah Lessard, of Woodburn, Ore.; wife, Jean Katherine Lessard, of Issaquah; and a grandson, Keith W. Lessard, of Bellevue. He is survived by his son, William Alan Lessard (Lisa); and daughter, Suzanne Denise Barrett (Greg), who has been the family’s great support throughout this difficult time. He is also survived by his grandson, James H. Nichols, and great-grandson, James C. Nichols.
