There is much to do in February.
There are receipts and forms to gather and sift through to get ready for tax season. It might be the time to refinance once again, now that the Federal Reserve slashed interest rates. The pressure is on to be ready for the Rotary Run — it is a couple of weeks early this year on March 9.
And speaking of events, this coming month marks the beginning of the Island’s fundraising season. The usual round of events are already set; each are important to our community and well-being. In the next several weeks, there will be breakfasts and capital campaigns, phone calls and flyers in the mail. To mention just a few, there is the Youth and Family Services Breakfast on Feb. 13, the MI Women’s Club lunch featuring Ciscoe Morris on Feb. 4, a concert to raise money for the MIHS jazz band trip to China on Feb. 23. The Northwest Center Pools capital campaign is underway to help pay for upgrades and repairs at Mary Wayte Pool. And scattered throughout the spring will be events sponsored by many high school seniors completing their culminating projects. Coming up in March is the Mercer Island Schools Foundation Business Breakfast and the Mercer Island School District capital levy. Whew!
Last but not least in this short but busy month is to remember to buy those Camp Fire mints and candies. And smack in the middle of all this is Valentine’s Day. Will Almond Roca and Aplets and Cotlets do for your sweetheart?
