Islanders boys tennis team wins state title

Photo courtesy of Mark Anderson The Mercer Island Islanders boys tennis team captured the Class 3A state team championship on May 27 in the Tri-Cities, compiling a total of 22 team points. Lakeside finished in second place with 20 points.The Mercer Island doubles team consisting of Christian Anderson and Chris Elliot won the Class 3A doubles state championship. The Islanders doubles duo of Jonah Tang and Kevin Chen earned fifth place in the Class 3A doubles tournament. Islanders’ singles player Zach Chew nabbed eighth place in the Class 3A singles tournament.
