Islanders compete at NCAA championships

Two MIHS teammates raced in A finals for the NCAA D3 National Swimming and Dive Championships.

Former MIHS Islander teammates Alex Seidel and Sabrina Kwan recently swam for Pomona College at the NCAA D3 National Swimming and Dive Championships at Indianapolis.

Alex and Sabrina helped the Pomona Sage Hens reach a milestone at the NCAAs as the women’s team finished in ninth place overall, the highest standing Pomona has ever achieved. Both Alex and Sabrina raced in A Finals and reached the podium with their relay teams. With their efforts, each received All-American honors.

Alex and Sabrina started their swimming careers at Mercerwood Shore Club and continued as teammates at Mercer Island High School and Pomona. They won championships at MSC, MIHS and Pomona and have had great fun and made many friends along the way. While Sabrina has two more years to swim for the Sage Hens, Alex has hung up her goggles and will graduate in May. Swimming at the NCAA championships was a great finale for Alex’s swimming career.
