Mercer Island senior boys water polo player Daniel Kavesh recently captured a coveted honor.
USA Water Polo announced their 2016-17 academic All-Americans honorees on Sept. 7, and Kavesh was recognized as an 2016-17 Academic All-American. Student-athletes needed to attain a 3.6 GPA while participating in a national U.S.A. water polo event to be eligible for the honor. Kavesh participated in U.S.A. Water Polo’s Junior Olympics tournaments in 2015, 2016 and 2017. In addition to playing water polo on a year-around basis, Kavesh has worked at the Boys and Girls Club and Mercerwood Shoreclub over the past few years. Kavesh also served as the Tourette Syndrome Association of Washington and Oregon’s youth ambassador chapter delegate in 2014 and 2015.
