The Mercer Island fastpitch team traveled to Lindbergh High School in Renton on Monday, April 22. The Islanders lost by one run. The final score was 8-7.
Mercer Island was up 2-1 at the end of the first inning, followed by Lindbergh adding a second run to tie the game in the second. Two runs for the Islanders in the top of the third allowed Mercer Island to regain the lead 4-2. Lindbergh blew the game wide open with five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, making it a 7-5 match. Lindbergh would go on to add another run in the bottom of the sixth and Mercer Island tried to tie the game with two runs in the seventh, but fell just short.
Lindbergh had eight runs on nine hits and one error, while Mercer Island scored seven runs on 10 hits and one error.
Mckenna Pellerin was 3-4 at the plate during the game, while Natalie Ricklefs was 3-4 with one RBI.
The Islanders will host Juanita on Tuesday, April 23 in a 4:30 p.m. game.
