With a 50-40 victory over Willapa Valley on Thursday morning, Mercer Island’s Northwest Yeshiva rolled into the semifinals of the 1B state basketball tournament at the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena. The No. 3-ranked Lions will play No. 1-ranked Almira Coulee Hartline at 2 p.m. on Friday. On Thursday, Willapa Valley led 25-19 at halftime, Northwest Yeshiva rebounded to lead 32-30 after three periods and then outscored its opponent 18-10 in the final frame.
