The Mercer Island faspitch team closed out the regular season on Thursday, May 2 with a win over Bellevue. The final score was 11-9 for the Islanders.
Bellevue was up 4-1 at the end of the first inning, but Mercer Island scored three unanswered runs in the third and fourth innings to make it a tie game. Bellevue posted a five run fifth inning. Not to be out-done, Mercer Island scored seven in the sixth to take the lead and win the game.
Mercer Island had 11 runs off nine hits and two errors in the match, while Bellevue had nine runs off nine hits and two errors.
Maiya Loucks was 3-4 in the game, with two runs scored, while Morgan Peyou was 2-5 with three runs scored and a triple.
The Islanders will begin the KingCo tournament on Thursday, May 9 at Hartman Park in Redmond. The top four teams from KingCo will advance to the SeaKing tournament.
