The Mercer Island baseball team fell in a KingCo match on Wednesday, May 1 to Mount Si. The final score was 12-3 for the Wildcats.
Neither team scored in the first inning, followed by a one-run second inning for the Islanders. The 1-0 lead was short lived, as Mount Si scored seven runs in the bottom of the second. The Wildcats made it 8-1 in the bottom of the fourth, followed by two runs in the fifth.
Mercer Island ran the bases twice in the sixth inning, but another two from Mount Si made the gap to large to overcome.
Mount Si had 12 hits on 11 runs and no errors, while Mercer Island had three runs off nine hits and two errors.
Alex Himstead was 1-4 in the game with a double, while Karsten Sherman was 2-4.
The Islanders wrap up the regular season with a game at Bellevue on Thursday, May 2 starting at 4:30 p.m. The KingCo tournament will begin next week.
