Twelve Mercer Island football players earned 3A All-KingCo recognition for the 2016 season.
On offense, receiver Cole Miller and linemen Aksel Turk and Jaeden Pritchard were named to the All-KingCo first team. Inside linebacker Will Krause and cornerback Will Dodds were Mercer Island’s all-league first team defense selections.
Quarterback Nikhil Nayar, running back Jordano Mark and center lineman Ben Clayville were named to the all-league second team. Defensive end Andy Bliss and outside linebacker Blake Swanson earned second team honors on defense. Dodds was also named to the second team as a punter.
Garnering all-league honorable mentions were receiver Mitchell Mandt, Krause for his work as a tight end, Pritchard as a defensive end and outside linebacker Charlie Rowe.
Mercer Island finished the 2016 season with an overall record of 4-6 and was 2-3 in KingCo 3A. The Islanders advanced to the postseason for the first time since 2013 this year, after defeating Redmond in a three-team playoff on Nov. 1 for the league’s final postseason berth.
