Mercer Island golf picks up first win of season | Prep golf

The Mercer Island girls golf team won their first match of the season, bringing home first place from the RHS Invitational Wednesday, March 16. The Islanders won with 336 strokes, beating out second place Redmond.

The Mercer Island girls golf team won their first match of the season, bringing home first place from the RHS Invitational Wednesday, March 16. The Islanders won with 336 strokes, beating out second place Redmond.

Mercer Island had six girls competing in the meet at Bear Creek Country Club, include captains Kayce Ogishima and Sarah Peterson, along with Haley Chinn, Chelsea Saelee, Jolie Shen and Jacque Bendrick.

“We played pretty well,” said Ogishima. “The course was pretty difficult but I think we handled it really well.”
