Mercer Island NPSA teams shine at local soccer tournaments

Two local Nowland Premier Soccer Academy teams won their respective divisions at recent youth soccer tournaments.

Two local Nowland Premier Soccer Academy teams won their respective divisions at recent youth soccer tournaments.

The NPSA Boys U11 Navy team won the silver division at the Starfire Xtreme Cup, which took place Aug. 19-21 in Tukwila.

The team recorded two wins and a draw through group play to earn the tournament’s second seed. In the final, the U11 Navy defeated the top-seeded Emerald City White 4-1.

The NPSA U11 Navy players include Wyatt Acker, Davin Aoyama, Edward “Woody” Brown, Cody Fosseen, Benjamin Katz, Cole Krawiec, Sol Park, Aidan Rodey, Lucas Shelton, Benjamin Sterrett, Chase Warnick and Colby Duenas. The team is coached by Jack Sturgess.

The NPSA Boys U12 Navy team took the top spot in the silver division of the Snohomish Bigfoot tournament, which took place Aug. 19-22.

The team went 3-1 through group play and scored 14 goals on its way to the championship game. In the final, the U12 Navy edged Kitsap Alliance 1-0.

The NPSA U12 Navy players include Nicholas Chou, Alexander Findlay, Zack Geisner, Linus Hykes, Brandon Kirmer, Amar Kumar, Hugo Manier, Cole Nicholson and Chaney Wampold. The team is coached by Keenan Butler.
