The Mercer Island girls swim and dive team placed third at the Sea-King 3A district 2 championships Saturday at Mary Wayte Pool.
Scoring 192 points as a team, the Islanders finished behind the first-place Lakeside Lions (214) and the runner-up Bellevue Wolverines (208).
At Saturday’s district finals, Mercer Island posted state-qualifying marks in six events.
Mercer Island’s team of Heather Robinson, Ellie Bailey, Maeve Murdoch and Sammie Edwards won the 200 yard freestyle relay at 1:40.49.
The team of Annie Pearse, Edwards, Murdoch and Ellie Williams placed third in the 400 free relay (3:39.42). Alex Williams, Grace Olsen, Hailey Vandenbosch and Ellie Williams were fourth in the 200 medley relay (1:54.5).
Murdoch placed third in both the 100 free (54.62) and 200 free (1:57). Edwards was fourth in the 100 free (54.88) and sixth in the 200 free (1:59.03).
Sophia McGuffin was fifth in the diving event with a score of 356.75. Annie Pearse was fifth in the 50 free (25.47), Hailey Vandenbosch was fifth in the 100 fly (1:00.72) and Chloe Mark was sixth in the 500 free (5:26.2).
Mercer Island’s state qualifiers will compete at the 3A state championships Nov. 11-12 at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.
